As a Nominator

Submitting a nomination is a great way to recognize your favourite local business.  With our simple Express Nomination process, you only need to provide the name of your favourite business or organization! We will pass your submission along to the nominee, so that they can share and celebrate the acknowledgement with their team.  They will then have the opportunity to complete the nomination form and potentially be recognized as a finalist!  

You can also nominate a deserving business leader for one of our many individual awards.

As a Nominee or Self-Nominee

No one knows your business better than you, and this is your opportunity to share your success story and shine a spotlight on your business.  Submitting a self-nomination or completing a nomination submitted by a third party is a great way to celebrate the achievements of your business and your team.   Your company could be recognized as one of three finalists in your category, and be profiled in our multi-media promotional campaign!    

As a Finalist

If selected as a finalist, your company will gain recognition as a top achiever and will join leading companies in Peterborough, as an outstanding member of this community.  You will also enjoy:

• A special profile in the Peterborough Examiner

• A video profile presented at the Awards Ceremony

• Social media promotion

• A commemorative plaque to display and "Excellence Finalist" logo to post on your website, promotional materials, etc.

• Recognition at the annual Business Excellence Awards Ceremony, attended by 500 of Peterborough's business leaders

Eligibility

In order to be eligible for nomination for any of the award categories the nominee must be located within the City/County of Peterborough, or have been founded and still have headquarters here.

You have the opportunity to submit nominations in two categories per business.  Check out the full list of categories.  Businesses nominated in multiple categories MUST only select 2 categories to put forth for submission.

In categories recognizing individuals (Business Citizen, Businesswomen of the Year, 4-Under-40, Immigrant Entrepreneur, Farm Family), previous recipients are ineligible.

In any given business category, the previous year’s recipient is ineligible but may apply again in future years.

All qualified candidates are encouraged to nominate themselves, or you may nominate any qualified individual, or business for any of the award categories. Nominees do not need to be members of the Chamber of Commerce. Forms are available online or by calling 705-748-9771 ext 0.

Submitting a Nomination

Simply choose your category and follow the links to the nomination form.  

Judging 

All completed nominations are reviewed by the Judging Committee.  Judging is based solely on the information provided within the application form.

Judges will assign a score (0-5) for each section.  The more thorough, comprehensive and/or informative the application, the higher the potential points score. The Chamber reserves the right to contact the nominee to verify facts.  For more information, check out our Tips from the Judges. 

Announcement of Finalists

Three finalists will be selected for each category*. These finalists will be announced in the Peterborough Examiner in August.  Only the 3 finalists chosen for each category will be notified by the Chamber prior to this date. 

*Exceptions: The following categories do not have finalists, only recipients: Business Citizen of the Year, Immigrant Entrepreneur of the Year, Businesswomen of the Year, Business Student Leadership Prizes, and 4-Under-40 Profiles. For all except the Business Citizen, recipients in these categories will be announced in the Peterborough Examiner in August. The Business Citizen will be announced with the category recipients in the fall.
